Managed to finish one of these Thomas birthday cards today. Just need to iron the design and then tape inside the card. Part of me thinks the card is a bit too plain around the outside of the design but then I don’t want to add too much to take focus away from Thomas! 🙂 Seeing as he is the most important character in the two little boys lives at the moment.
Photos do not do the sparkly aida justice – it definitely adds a little special extra to the design and card 🙂
So one down, one more to go!

‘Cinders and Ashes, Thomas 🙂 ‘
This is what I have done so far. Was up quite late last night stitching and doing more today too. Its not a very big design – measures 6.5 x 8cm, so should be fairly quick to produce two in time for the birthdays. Think I might do Thomas’ mouth a bit different – not too keen on how it looks in the design.
Have you noticed the sparkly aida? I love it – have some of this one which is pale blue but also have pale green with sparkles – perfect for adding that little bit extra to a design. 🙂
I think Thomas is coming along nicely don’t you think?

Been looking through this lovely Thomas the Tank Engine Cross Stitch book today. It’s quite an old book but picked it up off eBay quite cheaply. Seeing as both me and PR have each a nephew that love Thomas, I just couldn’t resist this book.
Both nephews will be 2 next month so have been looking through this book for inspiration. They both already have quite a lot of Thomas related things, so I have decided on a smallish design that I shall cross stitch and probably make into a birthday card.
There are lots of designs for each character but I just had to choose a Thomas one! Obviously 🙂
Might find a nice alphabet design so that I can cross stitch their names etc on the design too.
Started cross stitching one last night. Will post photos soon 🙂
Choo Choo Thomas!

Here is the finished project that I posted about earlier. So did you guess right?
Very cute little flowery slippers 🙂
Had to completely re-do the one slipper as I forgot to crochet into the back post only which helps make the sides of the slipper more defined. (only realised when I had nearly finished the thing!)
All around the top edge are chain spaces which I may thread some ribbon through and tie at the back of the slipper – think it might look cute. Better dig out my ribbon stash 🙂 Could also put a button in the middle of each flower – what do you think?

So this is what I am working on at the moment. Shouldn’t be too long and the project will be finished. Will leave you guessing what it could be but will post finished photo very soon! Make sure to check back 🙂
Oh and these are also part of the project! Any ideas??

My latest crochet project! Managed to finish weaving all the tails in today. They were so easy to make – much easier than I first thought. They are made with wool that make them feel so cosy and warm! Might have to make another pair in a fuchsia colour for someone I know that loves anything pink! Obviously had to do mine in purple 🙂 Love the colour purple.
I have adapted the pattern slightly – the original pattern makes the finger end very frilly (not really to my taste to be honest). So instead I did 6 long dc’s into each chain space around the top and then finished the edging with a row of dc’s. This makes the top edge a bit like shell edging.
The original pattern is in Nicki Trench’s Cute and Easy Crochet. Had this book as a Christmas present and there are so many lovely patterns – took me ages to decide which one to do first. I’m definitely going to make the little purse and the blankets are to die for – seriously need to invest in more wool for the blankets though! There is also a lovely pattern for a pink and a blue teddy bear – perfect for little ones – so very cute!
On a completely different note – away from anything crafty – but something I am so excited about – we’ve booked our honeymoon! Yay! Only three days after our wedding we shall be jetting off to Morocco in a lush hotel. Excited much?!
Ciao for now (not Moroccan I know, but I dont know Arabic at the moment 😉 )

I have literally just finished my first ever crocheted bag. What do you think? I’m fairly pleased with it – although if I did it again think I would make the strap a little longer.
I have lined the inside of the bag and sewn a little pocket on the lining too. The strap is also lined with interfaced fabric.
Had a tricky time attaching the strap to the sides of the bag but managed to sew them on with matching wool with fairly good result.
I have decided to start my cross stitch project next and because it is a large piece, in between I think I will crochet a little purse to match! *must stop adding to my to-do list* 🙂 My to-do list is growing by the day however I am quite pleased that I tend to finish projects before starting another. Unless they are huge then I might have more than one UFO on the go! 😀 How many UFO’s do you have on the go???

Today I thought I would take a look at my next cross stitch project – have already got the fabric and threads needed so want to start it as soon as I finish my crochet project (hopefully wont be too long and I can show you a photo 🙂 )
Love the design of the project – last year I was into oriental style designs but now I seem to be looking more at african ones.
This one is 250 x 157 stitches and will measure 45 x 28cm. EEEKKK! Surprisingly though it only uses 40 different threads (which was a lot less than I thought).
Am slightly scared at the look of the chart when put together :S
Have never done a project this large before – not entirely sure how I will even start to tackle it!
Oh well, nothing like a challenge to keep the brain going (she says :S)
Will definitely post photos of this project as I think it will be good to actually see a timeline of progress – otherwise it could be quite disheartening when you think you aren’t getting anywhere with it!
Anyway, must dash, have a crochet project itching to be finished!

Wow! It has been a while since I have blogged hasn’t it?!
Now that it is a new year, time for new projects I think. My crochet bag is coming along quite well now ( had a minor mishap with some lost stitches so did have to unravel quite a bit – will upload a more recent photo soon of my progress!).
Also I want to start a very big cross stitch project which is of an African theme – surprisingly it is going to be for me for a change! Although I do have some ideas for gifts for people this year too. 🙂
Will try and upload another tutorial soon – a slightly different project that is good for the environment yet useful and quirky at the same time – so keep checking back!
Now that Christmas is done and dusted, I can upload some pictures of the gifts I made, have a look and do let me know what you think 😀
