What a lovely surprise I had on my birthday (Monday), not only did me and PR go away for a few nights to Edinburgh, but I have been nominated for the Beautiful Blogger Award! I was nominated by Creative Pixie because we both encourage each other’s love of all things crafty! How lovely 🙂
It is a wonderful concept where bloggers nominate their favourite blogs for the award.
The rules are:
1. Thank the person who nominated you – ‘Thank you so much for nominating me – was a lovely discovery on my birthday! I have thoroughly enjoyed following your blog from the beginning and your lovely comments on my blog are greatly appreciated’ 🙂
2. write a few interesting (?) facts about yourself.
- I work as a Staff Nurse on a very busy surgical ward looking after Head & Neck Cancer patients and also Breast Cancer patients.
- I am getting married on October 12th 2012 to my best friend. (Awww 🙂 )
- I like rock and metal music.
- I used to swim competitively for my home county and won many awards for fastest time in my age group.
- My eyelashes are so long they touch my glasses.
- I have a habit interrupting others when talking.
3.paste the award on your blog – see above!
4. link the person who nominated you for the award – http://creativepixie.wordpress.com/
5. nominate up to about 5 of the blogs you like with links to their sites.
These are some of the blogs I like to read and have nominated for the Beautiful Blogger award:
It must be all this wedding planning that made me want to get some flowers for my lovely vase that I got for Valentines Day (the roses did not last long :(). Yesterday I brought two bunches of daffodils – none of the flowers were open when I brought them but by the late afternoon a few had started to open. This morning – they are all pretty much open and add a lovely bright yellow springness to our dining room!
So this morning I hobbled up the road (still have problems with my knee :() to a lovely little flower shop called The Red Flower Barrow. I have always driven past this shop and thought what a lovely little shop it looks. The florist was lovely and very helpful – I love it when people are very enthusiastic about something they love – a bit like me with my crafty stuff! So after 20 odd minutes going through different types of flowers, I walked away with everything I needed to make my own flower arrangement.
Here is what I brought:
I have pink Gerberas, purple Tulips, purple Aster, Eucalyptus and green Leather Leaf.
Now here’s hoping I can do them justice and arrange them nicely!
After fiddling with what height I wanted for the arrangement and where to put each of the Gerberas and Tulips – I was finally happy to start adding the filler flowers – the Aster, Eucalyptus and the Leather Leaf. Proved a little difficult to get it all balanced right as the Tulips were remarkably heavy compared to the other flowers and the oasis kept tipping forward because of this.
So, after a few little distractions (Dottie and Lillie decided they wanted to sniff every single flower and brush past my arrangement constantly!), my first ever flower arrangement was finished!
What do you think?
Not bad for my first attempt don’t you think?
Think it looks lovely in my butterfly vase – thank you PR for your excellent choice 🙂

This is the finished design for my mum’s Mother’s Day Card. Think she will really like it as it is quite simple but still has her favourite things – butterflies and flowers. I’ve attached some plain white paper to the back of the stitched design so that no stitching can be seen through the aida but also because I’m mounting it on some backing paper and do not want that to show through either. I love double sided sticky tape – much less mess than glue – although I do sometimes have trouble getting the backing off, that’s the trouble having no nails 😦
This is the backing paper I have used. Got quite a large pack of these for only 99p in a local craft shop – wish I had brought some other designs as well but we are on a tight budget (what with buying a house, getting married, honeymoon etc 🙂 ). I’ve again used double sided tape to stick the paper to the front side of the card. Looks pretty doesn’t it?!
And here’s the finished card! I was going to have a look through my ribbon stash but I have now decided that it does not need any embellishments etc. Think it would look too busy. It looks great for the upcoming spring time don’t you think? I’ve decided I might do the heart design as well – either as an actual heart hanging or maybe just a card for Mum’s Birthday in June – not sure yet.
Oh and during my crafty time, Lillie decided to sit on some of my stuff (good job it wasn’t on any stitched work!). Bless her, she likes to lie down on random pieces of paper, even if the whole table is free from stuff she will still sit on something! She can sit on our gas bill any day of the week 🙂
Having a lazy Sunday today which is perfect – will do so more crochet later – have a mini project on the go at the moment then it is on to a bigger project soon. Seriously need to use up some of my wool – PR isn’t too impressed that it’s overtaken the living room – however the cats love it. Yet again Lillie picked up some of my wool and trailed it all the way through the house – can’t help but laugh at her xxxxxx
Hope you are all having a lovely lazy Sunday too

Here is the finished project that I posted about earlier. So did you guess right?
Very cute little flowery slippers 🙂
Had to completely re-do the one slipper as I forgot to crochet into the back post only which helps make the sides of the slipper more defined. (only realised when I had nearly finished the thing!)
All around the top edge are chain spaces which I may thread some ribbon through and tie at the back of the slipper – think it might look cute. Better dig out my ribbon stash 🙂 Could also put a button in the middle of each flower – what do you think?

Today has been a full day of wrapping christmas presents. Didn’t quite realise how long it was going to take me, my fault really as I seemed to have brought the biggest presents ever for everyone!
Fabric turned up yesterday so I was able to finish off a present this morning which was relief to me – talk about cutting it fine!
Last night I managed to do a bit more crochet – have a look at what I made in photo below.
It is so cute, I love it! Another decoration to add to the tree 😀
Bit of a short post I know, but feeling a bit under the weather today – still have lots to do as well. 😦
Ta Ta for now,
Miss C xx
Been on the sewing machine all day! Only stopped because the light was getting poor 😀 Seriously need to invest in a daylight bulb for my crafting room.
Made my first serious attempt in quilting today, and I am quite pleased with the result actually (still need more practice though! ). Have a look at the picture below and let me know what you think??
As you can see from the photo, I have finally made the craft bag I was blogging about! I will post the tutorial tomorrow, so make sure to check back!
Next on the agenda is going to be more cross stitch and crochet (made into yet more Christmas decorations most likely :D). Obviously I will keep you updated. Also I will try and post some crochet patterns for some of the things I have made (if there is one in particular that I have made then please let me know!).

Today has been a full day of cross stitching…. have major stitcher’s thumb right now!
Finished off the rest of my gift tags ready for wrapping presents. Have done no wrapping whatsoever yet so need to get cracking pretty soon.
Currently have one Christmas present yet to finish as I’m waiting on fabric coming from the US (thought I had enough fabric but clearly underestimated it and the only place I could find it was in the States 😦 ). Talk about cutting it fine eh?
So what do you think of my gift tags? Pretty cute I think. Glad they are finished though – the amount of fractionals and backstitch was starting to get to me and my thumb!
Found Dottie lying in the most peculiar place earlier – right in the middle of the kitchen diner completely sprawled out. She’s so funny:) Both Dottie and Lillie are going completely mental at the moment because other half has got the laser pointer out which they love trying to catch. Isn’t she cute……
Apologies for blurry photo ( I may be good at crafty stuff, but photography definitely not!) 😀
This morning I have managed to finally finish off these little cross stitch houses. They came free with another one of my cross stitch magazines, CrossStitcher. Have had them nearly finished for ages, just needed to slip stitch the gap closed after stuffing them. What do you think?
Trying to start making more of the free gifts I get as they are beginning to pile up now, what with all the other projects I want to do! 🙂
Not quite sure where I am going to hang them…. but I’m sure I will find a place!
My supply of new wool came this morning, which has made me very happy…. shh! don’t tell my other half but I am actually waiting on another lot! Ooops hehe 😀
Seriously need to make myself that craft bag I was telling you, I am going to have no space in my plastic bag(!) for my new wool! Must go, have more things to make 😛 Miss C xx
Another tree decoration to add to the collection……
This one is made of two parts. I crocheted the front design and then did exactly the same for the back. Crocheting the two circles together, adding some stuffing inside before crocheting closed.
Was going to put a button in the centre of each side but didn’t have a button big enough for my darning needle to go through! Ooops! 🙂 Guess I could have sewn them in. Never mind!
At some point in the next few days I will post the patterns for my crochet bits n bobs so you can all have a go! I might even try and do a video tutorial :s will have to get other half to help I reckon, he’s a whizz kid on the camera!

Just finished making two of my cross stitch gift tags, have not done cross stitch for a while now so thought it was time to go back to my favourite stitchy craft for a bit. Have a huge cross stitch project to start after the new year which I cannot wait to get my teeth into but daunts me at the same time as its the biggest I will have done to date. Will keep you posted on it for sure!
Did these quick gift tags which came as a free gift from one of my many many cross stitch magazines I get, think they look so cute don’t you? I shall be rustling up the other 4 in the next few days (hopefully!) Miss C xx
Head over to the tutorial section to find out how to make this easy and very practical needle roll up. Perfect for organising all your needles, hooks etc, but you could adapt it to hold any other stitchy items! Get making now and give it to someone new to knitting/crochet at Christmas ( could even include a few needles and hooks to get them started). As usual, comments and questions happily accepted. Enjoy and have fun making!

So I have been crocheting into the small hours the last few nights, as I have been practising making some tree decorations. Really wish I had managed to make all my decorations this year but was just not organised enough! Maybe next year! 🙂
First of all I made these……
and then I started on these……. I love these and will be making more! Lovely little jackets for your baubles 😀
What do you think?….. Will you be making some? If so, let me know how you get on… would love to know!
I’m in the process of making some slightly different tree ornaments so watch this space! 🙂 Now got to get back to writing Christmas cards and doing our Save The Date cards (wedding….. Yay!) Happy Crocheting, Miss C xx
Bit of a late post but today I have been busy crocheting. Never really done much crochet before, as used to be more of a knitter since that was what my nan taught me. Fancied doing something a bit different so came up with these………
Am thinking of making a little bag out of felt and so might use some of these to decorate, what do you think? What would you use them as? Attach a pin for a brooch? Button to the centre? Even attach a hair grip maybe???
Have to apologise now that I have still not posted any tutorials yet, however, I am hoping in the next few days I will be able to share some projects with you, I blame Christmas!!! 😛 Still haven’t put our Christmas tree up yet…. delaying the inevitable destruction that will be done by our two cats, Dottie and Lillie, however it is very fun to watch! Nighty night for now…
